Well Saturday afternoon Craig woke up from his nap with a small amount of rash on his tummy and a little on his legs. He had a slight fever. By the time we got ready to go to bed his rash was all over his body and his fever was rising. About 11:30p we headed to Wake Med Pediatric ER . When we finally got seen he was at 103.7 And he had quite the perplexing rash. No one was sure what it was. We had found a tick on him earlier in the month, and he presented with all the symptoms of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, so that was the possible first diagnosis. However after blood work that was put on the back burner, and a really bad viral infection was thought or a reaction to a recent antibiotic he was on for sinusitis. So Sunday morning they admitted him into the hospital to keep him on an iv fluid drip as well as making sure that the rash does not spread into his mouth and get internal. Right now the best way to describe the rash is to say he looks like a dalmatian with red spots instead of black ones. The main battle we are fighting now is trying to keep the fever down. Last night (Monday morning) he spiked back up to 104. So we are just praying for the fever to finally break as well as prayers for the rash to keep going down. I appreciate all your concerns and prayers. I would have to say that company other than family will have to wait till we get home. He is just so pooped right now we are trying to get him to sleep when he can. (Which as you know in a hospital is not much) Someone is usually at my house if you want an update. Kelly and mom have been staying there taking care of Harrison. So that Stephen and I can stay as much as possible. Stephen has been able to go home yesterday and get a nap while Kelly played with Harrison! I am planning on going home for a few hours today and see Harrison as well as get a nap. I somehow (well really by the grace of God) got the mommy rush and stayed up for almost 40 hours straight before I finally crashed for a few hours on the ohh so comfy hospital recliner last night. I have to say that he is looking better. The rash is not as bright red as it was Saturday but more like a pink purple color. The nursing staff and doctors have been wonderful here so we have been very blessed. His curious George monkey has had his temp taken and bandaged up every time with Craig so that makes him feel better. I am very proud of him. he has been a trooper that is for sure. I told him today that his personality was coming back so he must be feeling better, and he said where is my person, where did to go? It was cute. When he feels like it I might get him up to look out his window. They are doing construction outside his window so there are all sorts of heavy machinery out there!!!
Harrison is doing well also about 2 weeks ago he started rolling from tummy to back and thinks it is the greatest thing ever!!!! He is also starting to scoot across the blanket when we have tummy time. It is cute!!!!!
I will try to keep you all up to date as we find out more. Last we heard it was anticipated Tuesday for going home as long as we can break this fever!!!!!! Let you know when I know more
